Philips 42PFL5603D
The Philips 42PFL5603D/27 looks amazing and this feature alone allows
it to stand apart from the other HDTVs currently on the scene. But
that's not all - this Philips 42
inch LCD also has some serious features and
specifications to back up it’s stunning lines. The 42PFL5603D features
a large 42-inch full HD 1080p LCD screen for a full 1920×1080 pixels
which gives the very highest HD format. Another great feature is that
this TV has one of the lowest power consumption ratings for a
HDTV of its size! For this reason, Philips has called the 42PFL5603D an
Eco TV - typical power consumption is just 75 watts during operation,
and only 0.15 watts during standby. Now compare this to a similarly
sized HDTV which can use anywhere between 175-300 watts. Add in superb
connectivity options such as the four HDMI inputs and you can see why
this LCD TV is a winner.
Another suprising feature
of the 42PFL5603D is that the LCD screen is illuminated by many LEDs
rather than a traditional lamp. This means you get the benefits of
lower power use, and local dimming. (Local dimming lets the set
dim specific LED areas on screen - this creates darker blacks and
deeper colors for an enhanced contrast ratio and colours when watching
dark scenes. To bring ever greater levels of viewing pleasure, the
incorporated Pixel Plus 3 HD technologies improve and enhance the image
quality by boosting colour, contrast sharpness and reducing noise. You
get the ultimate in image quality every time.
Technology isn't the only thing going for the Philips
42PFL5603D - the sleek, black frame includes rounded strip of
see-through plastic which gives it a clean, appealing, easy on the eye
look. Philips have also decided with annoying logos and extras; all
uneccessary extras have been chopped. This leaves you to enjoy, the
clean lines without distraction.
The matching black stand swivels, and the downward-firing speakers are
hidden under the cabinet. Including stand, the set measures about 41.2
inches wide by 28 inches tall by 10.3 inches deep, and weighs 60
pounds, while removing the stand shrinks it to 41.2 by 25.4 by 3.5
inches and 49 pounds.
Specification
wise, the television has a very high dynamic contrast ratio
of 29,000:1 with a brightness level of 500cd/m2. Connectivity on this
model is also very impressive with 4 x HDMI 1.3 inputs with CEC
